A T H R E E - P A R T S E R I E S OVERWRITTEN In the beginning God created — and breathed into man the breath of life, and man became a living soul. He placed in the womb a life not yet named, known before it drew breath, purposed before it was formed. He established the family as the first institution — before governments, before courts, before programs. He called out an assembly — the ekklesia — to hold the standard when everything else moved. These rights He endowed at creation. No court issued them. No legislature authorized them. No agency can revoke what was never theirs to grant. The Author outranks the acknowledger. The people were designed to live free under God — not as servants to the thing they built. The standard does not move when the culture moves. The Word does not return void. His image is stamped on every life conceived. His calling spoken over every child formed. His fellowship is the purpose for which every human being was made — life in community with Him. And the Church — His hands and feet, marked by the scars of obedience — was the instrument. Not a social club. Not a nonprofit. The governing assembly of the Kingdom in the earth. Called out to represent His authority, hold His standard, and govern according to His design. One reasonable step at a time, that voice was quieted. The line moved. The standard bent. Until the creation was overwriting the Creator — and calling the overwriting progress. But the principle has not changed. God has not moved. His design has not been revised. The Word that was written before any legislature sat — still speaks. Still calls. Still holds. HIS Kingdom Come. HIS Will Be Done. On earth as it is in heaven. Now. With urgency. A Personal Word Before You Read

"I did not set out to write a booklet about abortion."

Nor did I set out to write about the foster care system, or even the church's failure to be a voice in the wilderness for the children. Nor did I set out to make the case that God's hand has moved through history toward the freedom we now hold — a freedom that comes with an obligation expected in return.

I set out to build an adoption organization — a system that gives birth mothers a real choice and qualified families real hope, and funds the gap between the two so money is never the reason a child does not find a loving home. That is the underlying mission of Entrusted Futures.

But you cannot build that organization honestly without eventually arriving at the conversation this series contains. This is not a political document. The political argument is about law and power and who controls what. The moral argument is about truth — about what a life is, and who has the authority to define it.

Some of what is argued here is documented fact. Some of it is theological conviction. Some of it is a moral position on the state of our nation and the direction it is traveling. Each builds on the one before it. The argument is designed to be followed to its honest conclusion.

"Read it through. Follow the logic. Ask the questions it raises. And then decide what you are going to do with what you have read."

— Rev. J. Scott Gardiner, Founder, Entrusted Futures

Why This Series Exists

This writing is what led to Entrusted Futures

For years, the question kept moving. High school students showed it should have started in junior high. At-risk junior high students pointed back to elementary school. Elementary school pointed to pre-K. Pre-K pointed to the home before the child starts school. Eventually the question arrives at the moment before the home even exists — at conception, at pregnancy, at the decision a birth mother is making right now, without the support she deserves.

The Overwritten Series is that question followed all the way to its origin. Entrusted Futures is the answer built at that origin point — a moral intervention, not just an adoption organization, placed directly in the path of the sequence of reasonable steps this series traces.

"We do not place a child. We participate in what God is already doing."

Five Volumes  ·  One Unbroken Line

What each volume carries

Volume I

Overwriting God

The sanctity of life — and the infrastructure of hope. Traces the argument from the cost of a life, through the biology that was never honestly answered, to the two sentences underneath the entire case.

Volume II

Overwriting the Family

The failure of the system — and the families willing to stand firm. What happens when the infrastructure meant to surround a child collapses, and what it costs to rebuild it one family at a time.

Volume III

Overwriting the Church

The silencing of the standard — and the call to reclaim it. How the Church's voice was quieted one reasonable step at a time, and what it means to hold the standard again.

Companion Addendum

Freedom Has Always Come From God

The historical and theological record — from Genesis to Plymouth Rock. From the image of God stamped on man at creation, to the freedom to serve Him without government interference or government overwriting, to the shadow law that let that freedom be turned into justification for abortion — this volume traces the line, and the church's calling to stand as the standard-bearer's voice, on earth as it is in Heaven.
